Panama’s Famous Beaches & Islands

November 14, 2008

Tropical Panama islandFrom laid-back Caribbean Islands, to world-class beach resorts, Panama is a beach and island lover’s paradise. With miles of immaculate beaches, crystal clear, warm blue waters, lush vegetation and picturesque islands of white sand and swaying palm, Panama’s beaches and islands offer the ultimate tropical escape.

Boca Chica

In Chiriqui National Marine Park, near the Costa Rican border, lies a stunning new coast and island destination known as Boca Chica. Boca Chica offers pristine ocean views of tropical blue seas, an abundance of plant and wildlife, picturesque islands, world-class fishing, diving and snorkeling.

Bocas del Toro

12 countries have filmed editions of the popular television show Surviror in the exotic and remote Bocas del Toro Archipelago in Panama’s Caribbean, near the border with Costa Rica. Bocas has become one of the top tourist destinations in all of Panama, and with good reason.  Bocas del Toro is a classic Caribbean paradise, with bright aqua water, palm-lined beaches set against lush, tropical rainforest and a laid-back, fun town. Take a Bocas boat tour, visit a butterfly farm, go diving and snorkeling in the Coral Key, trek through the rainforest and enjoy good food, friends and fun out on the town at night in this charming town.

Coiba Island

Coiba Island is home to the second largest coral reef in the Eastern Pacific, and is considered one of the top ten diving spots in the world. The island’s abundant plant and marine life is a delight for nature-lovers. Scarlet macaws nest here and humpback whales are seen often.

Pacific Coast Beaches Near Panama City

Not many places in the world offer a bustling, metropolitan city with so many beautiful beaches nearby. Along the Pacific Coast, just outside Panama City, stretches a string of pretty white sand beaches with sapphire waters, featuring world-class beach resorts, Central America’s only beachfront golf course and outstanding retirement and vacation communities. The names of the most well known beaches and beach communities are: Punta Chame, Gorgona, Coronado, Rio Mar, Santa Clara and Playa Blanca.

Pearl Islands

The Pearl Islands, located just a short, 15-minute plane ride from Panama City, render exotic beauty with picturesque blue waters, flourishing vegetation and marine life, and sparsely populated, luxurious beaches. The islands were home to CBS’s popular television series, Survivor, two seasons in a row – which should tell you something about just how special these islands are.

San BlasSan Blas island in Panama

The 365 striking, palm tree-covered islands of San Blas offer two unbeatable attractions: Caribbean Islands of stunning beauty and the opportunity to visit the indigenous tribe of San Blas Indians to learn about their culture and way of life. In San Blas you will feel refreshingly “away from it all” surrounded by calming waters and lush nature. The islands offer great village and rainforest tours, plenty of sparsely populated beach for sunbathing and relaxing, excellent snorkeling and some of the best kayaking in the world.
