Plant & Wildlife in Panama

Because of its unique geographical position, Panama enjoys a greater diversity of wildlife than any other country in Central America. The country is home to many South American species as well as North and Central American wildlife. There are said to be over 10,000 varieties of plants, 1,500 species of trees and more than 1,000 species of birds inhabited in Panama. This is more than can be found in North America and Europe combined, and includes some of the most rare on Earth.

Panama hosts many natural resources to enjoy, such as pristine sandy beaches along both coasts, a rich rainforest full of exotic plant and Panama toucanwildlife, numerous tropical islands along its coasts, plus a beautiful collection of coral reefs and abundant expressions of sea life.

With tourism on the rise, but not yet as crowded as some of its neighbors, Panama boasts one of the most flourishing ecotourism spots in the world. Ecotourism landmarks, such as National Parks, forest reserves and wildlife refuges cover more than 29 percent of the country’s land mass and an abundance of outstanding eco-friendly adventures are at your fingertips to get your heart racing while experiencing some of the most breath-taking terrain in the world.
